Wineries and Vineyards near Mount Vernon, Ohio

Cypress Hill Winery

Cypress Hill Winery (Cypress Cellars) is a boutique winery that offers a small number of high-quality red wines in a rustic, but comfortable, atmosphere. The owners, Gary Jones and Rick Taylor, make a point of not final-filtering their wines. They use the least amount of sulfites needed for preserving their wines, utilizing specific storing processes to ensure preservation.

Cypress Hill Winery (Cypress Cellars) is part of Hudson & Essex, one of Mansfield, Ohio's premier restaurants. The winery is actually located in the restaurant's lower level and is part of Mansfield's Carousel District. The tasting room is in the middle of the working winery, surrounded by stone walls and oak wine barrels. While the hours for the restaurant vary quite a bit, the winery is open Wednesday and Thursday, 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Vineyard at Porter Central


  • Location: 8290 Porter Central Rd, Sunbury, OH
  • Hours: Friday through Saturday, 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Located just minutes away in Sunbury, Ohio, the Vineyard at Porter Central offers a variety of wines and hard ciders. This micro winery and cidery makes their products in small batches to maintain quality. Vineyard at Porter Central is located on five scenic acres, in a 100-year-old rustic barn, with much of the original woodwork still intact.

Guests on the property must be 21 or over. Private tastings can be arranged for groups of six or more. And, if you're planning a wedding and looking for a rustic setting, this is an excellent location that can handle up to 150 guests.

Note that the owners, besides producing wines and ciders, also raise sheep and have a "guard llama" on the property. Due to the farm animals being on site, pets are not allowed. 

Three Oaks Vineyard

Three Oaks Vineyard, run by Pete and Diana Hooverman, have been creating unique wines in Granville, Ohio since 2006. They typically produce around 10 varieties of red and white wines. Both dry and sweet wines are featured.

At Three Oaks Vineyard, you'll have plenty of room to relax and enjoy your visit. The vineyard is situated on 14 sprawling acres, and features plenty of shade trees, wild flowers, and a spring-fed pond. The large onsite vineyard has about 800 vines, and an apple orchard is also located on the property. For seating, you can choose from an outdoor patio, an covered patio, and a pavilion.

Three Oaks Vineyard does not serve food, but you're welcome to bring your own, and enjoy a picnic on the grounds. Food trucks also stop by on a regular basis. Local musicians also play at Three Oaks Vineyard during the week.

Ugly Bunny Winery

Ugly Bunny Winery, located in Loudonville, Ohio, is a family owned and operated winery that offers a variety of estate wines, Ohio-sources wines, and ciders. Both red and white wines are available. The winery is part of Holmes County's Canal Country Wine Trail.

Ugly Bunny Winery has a tasting room and a patio overlooking their vineyard. On Friday and Saturday nights, you can relax and enjoy your wine while listening to live entertainment provided by local musicians. Food trucks also visit the winery on a regular basis.
